I had a great time with another great bunch of student councillors at
Dunman High School yesterday. I gave a talk to share about our shores and to prepare some of them to help guide at the
Naked Hermit Crabs' Chek Jawa boardwalk tours.
This is part of Mr Loh Kok Sheng's effort to introduce his students to nature and nature guiding under a very apt name of EXCEL. This programme hopes to expose students to real issues, and real efforts to address them by real people. I'm delighted to be a part of this, and look forward to meeting these joyful students outdoors!
As usual, the student councillors are among the most lively and interested audiences I've had. They asked lots of good questions too. I'm touched that they stayed back after school to listen to me. And even more impressed that a portion of them stayed even longer to hear me share about nature guiding. Among the most intriguing topics of discussion was STONEFISH: what does it look like? what happens if you step on one? and lots more.
I was glad to be able to share a copy of the recent
Wild Singapore book for the school library. Thanks to one of the students for taking a photo of this, and the photo bomb by more of the lively students! Thanks to Mr Loh Kok Sheng, for inviting me to give the talk to his students, and for giving earlier preparatory talks to them.

Besides Chek Jawa, Raphael and Jinjing also joined the
Naked Hermit Crabs' walk at Pasir Ris Park, a fantastic place for bird watching.
